Ok, here's an interesting theory to chew on. I hadn't heard this before but it does make perfect sense.
GW and his administration are trying to bankrupt public schools so they will have a perfect excuse to privatize them. They are doing the same thing to the federal government. Their justification for doing this is that poor people will get their just rewards in heaven so they don't need it here on earth.
The absolutely frightening thing is that I really can see those sociopaths thinking like that.

My apologies to anyone who actually reads this but I am still going through some stuff with my son and probably will be through August so posts may be sporadic in spots.
Today my topic of disgust will be "What the hell ever happened to personal responsibilty?" Ok, now this doesn't sound like your typical liberal rant but this is one of those areas where I must grudgingly agree with the conservatives...to a point. ;oD
This story came across my Yahoo desk as I was skipping my breakfast this morning and almost made me choke!!! This woman was out partying all night, drove herself away from this evening of debauchery, slammed into a pedestrian who promptly went through her windshield. His top half is inside her car next to her and his bottom half is on the hood of her car. His leg is practically severed from his body. And she is just driving along. He is groaning in pain when they go over bumps. She pulls into an empy lot and tries to pull him out. That doesn't work so she drives home, parks her car in the garage, the guy is still in her windshield, and she calls some friends to come out and help her pull him out, then they go dump the body in a park.
And her menace to society of a lawyer is trying to say that her "altered state" is an excuse for this behavior!!!! That she shouldn't be charged with murder, simply with failure to get help!!!!! I thought I was as disgusted as I could get with lawyers when I heard the Twinkie defense, Black Rage and the McDonalds coffee incident. But at least these "professionals" had the "sense" to use "acceptable" excuses for their bogging down of the legal system. Sugar high, decades of slavery and civil inequity, stupidity....not believable but arguments can be made for socially acceptable-ish. But come on!!!! She shouldn't be held responsible because she was high on Ecstasy?!?!?!? Here is a quote from her idiot lawyer...
"Suddenly, with words that no one could possibly describe, a body is there. Glass is shattering. Slivers of glass are flying. Glass is flying into her face, into her car, into her skin. No one can describe that feeling."
Well, I'm so sorry sista but what about the poor guy you practically cut in HALF!!!!!! I'm sure he was having some feelings no one could describe himself!!!! And unless you are in a COMA there is no way you are too stoned to know you need to get an ambulance for a person who is sticking through your windshield! And she was a NURSES AIDE!!!!! Everyday people who hit kids who run out between parked cars are charged with vehicular homocide, for crying out loud! If this isn't criminally neglegent homicide at LEAST then there is something wrong with the legal system that needs fixed NOW!!!!!! The coroner even stated that the man had no severe internal injuries so if he would have gotten immediate help he would have lived. He bled to death in her garage where he stayed overnight still in her windshield.
This has got to STOP!!! People have free will and unless you are permanently and pervasively mentally ill, there should be NO EXCUSE OR LENIENCY!!!! You kill someone, you go to jail. If I had my way you would go to jail forever but that's just me. I would love to see the prison system become something more than a warehouse/recruiting ground for criminals. It would be so wonderful if they would be places where these people could go to heal and learn and become productive members of society again. But it's not like that right now and until someone in the government decides to make it that, we NEED to keep us safe from them.
But in this and the other cases I mentioned, these people made choices! Poorly reasoned choices to be sure but choices. And choices have consequenses. If you choose wrong, you take the consequenses and LEARN from it so you don't make the same wrong choice again. The twinkie guy was pissed off and went into a government building and shot someone. Yes, slavery was wrong, yes, civil inequity is a bad thing. But that doesn't make it ok to go out and kill white people anymore than it's right to kill black people, or yellow people or blue people. And COFFEE IS HOT!!!!!!!
If we teach our children that nothing is their fault, that they can do something bad or just not use their common sense and some lawyer will come up with an excuse for it and they will get away with it, what are we teaching them? That they don't need to use their common sense and it's ok to do bad things!!!
